Oklahoma Shirts
It cracks me up sometimes what my students will get mixed up. It's like they will hear something and then when they want to repeat it they remember just a little different from the way they heard it the first time. This happened today. We were about to read this precious book, Tacky the Penguin. It's about this penguin who has no style and doesn't act like a normal penguin. As I am telling the kids that I am going to read this, one of my students says, "Oh I remember this book, that penguin is funny, he only wears Oklahoma shirts." I couldn't for the life of me figure out what he was talking about. I asked him, "Did you say Oklahoma shirts?" Then he got embarassed and said nevermind. After going back and forth trying to figure out what he is talking about it Finally dawned on me that he was talking about Hawaiian shirts. When I asked him if that is what he meant a light came on and he realized he had said the wrong state. I love 2nd grade!

Hey bring that book home. That looks like a good one. I love that dumpy penguin on the cover. I think I just found a new favorite children's book hero.
He is a very cute character and there are several books with him and his friends in them.
That is a really cute story. I just love to hear your student stories.
Nikki's dad doesn't just wear Hawaiian shirts. He wear the sweetest shirts imaginable. He let me borrow one once when we were in San Diego with a pink Caddy across the front. I tis by far the best shirt I have ever put on my body.
Not sure I am doing this right, but here goes. Here is a cute 4 yr old story involving someone in OK. Philip & I were talking on the phone and Mallory was not wanting to go to bed. I could hear her fussing about it..so I told Philip to tell her "Gran is watching Raven. If you go lay down and watch it, you can pretend you are watching together." I guess her pretending does not include Gran watching in another state, because she ran to her room all excited and stopped short saying, "Where is her?" Then she was sad I was in OK. Love ya!
