Wallpaper Nightmare

Well I started the project today of taking down the lovely NASCAR border in Kyndall's room. No offense to you NASCAR lovers out there, but I'm not one of them and Kyndall's decor does not match.

Here it is in all it's glory...

When we did Lynlee's room. We had a baseball border to take down and it really was no trouble at all to do. Well I start to take down the NASCAR and it is coming off very well. And then I notice something...

Can you see that precious gem left for me under the NASCAR border? A SECOND BORDER!! But not only is it just a second border, but the blue that is under the NASCAR border is paint on top of the second border. SO the lovely owner before us decided it would be easier to paint over the border and then just put a border on top. NICE. Well that would be ok and we could just paint over it as well, except as I was taking the NASCAR border off the second border started to peel off as well. So now I have all of these ragged edges at the top of the room. Aughhhhh! So what started as an hour or so project turned into something much longer!

I will have to say though through all of the mess, this product has been my best friend...

If you are going to be removing wallpaper or border any time soon, GO BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is amazing. If you will just score the wallpaper and then completely drench it in the product and let it sit for about 30 minutes or so. Your wallpaper will just come off in sheets. It is truly amazing. And that's exactly what it did for my baseball border, my NASCAR border BUT since this lovely second border is coated with paint it is just STUCK to the wall. We are having to just pick at it to get it off. My goal was to get this down before my mom got here this weekend so the walls would be ready to prime and paint. I don't know if that's going to happen now. We will see! Please pray for my sanity. Because I am in total nesting mode and when things don't get done like I planned I get a little emotional about it. So I guess pray for my husband too :).

UGH! This happened to me in my parents' old house. Except it wasn't just border, it was wallpaper on top of more wallpaper. And they used some sort of non-wallpaper type glue for both of them, so even the Dif (which I totally used!) didn't work. I feel your pain!

Hope you and Spruce are doing well!!

I don't know why people do that. Our previous owners did the exact same thing and it was horrible. However, I totally agree with you about DIF. It has been my experience that house projects always last longer than you anticipated, and there are always little surprises along the way. Don't worry, everything will come together perfectly, and it will all work out. Kyndall is going to have a fabulous room!
