Recipe to Make a Diaper Cake

I have seen these diaper cakes at pretty much every baby shower I've been to lately and I've been dying to make one. So this weekend is Lauren's shower so I finally had an excuse!
What you will need:
A cake tray
70 diapers of the size you choose (I did size 2, if you chose a smaller size diaper you would probably need more than 70).
70 clear rubber bands
string
accessories to decorate the cake
4 feet of wide ribbon
large bottle of Huggies baby wash (the Johnson and Johnson are the wrong shape!)
3 pack of onesies (optional)

1st get your diaper and a rubber band.

Next roll the diaper. I did it from the outside in so it would hide the yellow design but you could do it from either direction.

Next, wrap the rubber band around the diaper.

Next take your bottle of baby wash and put it in the center, put one layer of diapers around the wash. I included a onesie on this layer instead of a diaper. Wrap a string around the whole circle and tie it off.

Next, add a second and third layer around the bottle and tie it off tightly with a string.
(You could do a 4th layer if you wanted to do a 4 tier cake.)

Do the same thing again on top of the bottom layer. This time only doing 2 layers and tying them off each time. (Again I included a onesie on this layer as well.)

Finally the top layer is the easiest, put the onesie or a diaper in the center and build a layer around it, tie it off.

To cover the string, wrap your wide ribbon around the cake. I hot glued my to get it to stay, you just have to make sure you don't touch the diaper while you are hot gluing!

Finally add your accessories all around the cake. I attached my with really thin ribbon.

And there you have it, a cutey diaper cake!

(On a different note Lynlee has been sleeping through the night. It's taken awhile (almost a year) but we are there and we are happy!!!!!!!)

i love those, and can't wait to try making my own sometime, thanks for the directions.
as for the favor i have looked at that invitation and situation so many times now, unbelievable! i can't think of any stellar ideas to save the situation. maybe cross out everywhere that says girl and write boy real big over it, or punch a hole at the top and tie a ribbon and blue tag to the top that says, "this just in- kynslee is now _______! change that pink to blue!"
i hope that helps somehow... please remember to let me know what she ends up doing, i am so curious!
