Sprucey Santa

I meant to post this awhile ago but hadn't got around to it yet. Several weeks ago Andrea was in need of a Santa for their school's Christmas program. She is the music teacher at the school where both of my nieces go. She put the whole program together and needed Santa. So she called up her loyal brother whose first response was, "Are you kidding me?" But then agreed of course. They ended up telling Mallory before hand because they didn't want her running up to him saying, "You're not Santa, you're Jason." Her response to that was, "He's pretending?!?" But they didn't need to worry about it because she wouldn't even come close to him without her mom. I think she was kind of excited about being able to keep a secret though. Overall I think it went well (I didn't get to be there) except for the very first boy who came up to him. Spruce had just gotten to his spot and was completely out of breath, he sat down and this boy who he said was about 8 or 9 comes up to him and Spruce says, "Hello, what's your name?" The little boy got this look of disappointment over his face and said, "I thought you'd know." Spruce said he felt terrible and pulled off his glasses and said, "I'm sorry, look Santa's glasses are broken." He said it was just heartbreaking! But I think he makes a pretty good Santa! What do you think?

I think that is the saddest Santa story I ever heard. I totally feel for Jason, I can imagine the look on that boys face just broke Jason's heart. But I love the idea of Jason as Santa, wish I could have seen it.
