Where is my place?

Last night after a long hard day of work, Spruce and I decided to treat ourselves to a dinner at Outback. It's kind of hard to stay on a diet at Outback but we managed to make it work (splitting helps). We had a really yummy meal and right before we left I decided to go to the restroom. So I go in there and am going to wash my hands when I notice these 2 girls primping themselves in the mirror. Now these girls are probably my age, maybe a little younger but not much. They are dressed to a T, in the latest fashions looking as cute as ever and towering over me, which is not that hard to do. As I am noticing how cute they look, I look in the mirror and notice how I look. I am dressed (mind you I did not change from my school attire) in jeans, tennis shoes, my "Alamo Stars" t-shirt, a nice oversized jacket (whatever was hanging by the front door), and hair kind of tousled. It was at that moment that I looked like a run-down mom. I felt like I should have a 2 year old running around and me out of breath. Now I do like to dress in style. My latest purchase is a pair of gouchos (that Spruce calls my pirate pants) that I am still kind of scared to wear but nonetheless are cute. But it was this moment that I realized that I don't care at all time what I look like and I am really grateful that I have a husband that doesn't care if I get dressed up everytime we go out to eat. (He was wearing a nice Astros shirt, jeans and flip flops.) So I go back to the table and tell Spruce the story. He laughs and says, "It's nice to know your place in the world." And it's true, I am not a college student and I am not a mom. Why I was dressed and felt like a mom last night, probably because I was exhausted from hearing "Mrs. Graves" yelled out 50 times. Maybe one day I will have an excuse to look like a mom. Until then...

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I was just thinking the same thing last night at Chili's. There were all these girls dressed in the latest fashions and then there was Cheerleading/Basketball coach me, wearing a cheerleading jacket, jeans, and tennis shoes.

Love the pirate comment!!! I do not dare to buy any let alone try any on.

And as for the mom comment, I only dress like when going thru a drive thru, get groceries or put gas in the car. That is now, but of course, when you guys were little I am sure it was not alwasy that way. But then our nice meal out was pizza.
