Birth Years
Today we are talking about Martin Luther King in class. (Getting ready for Monday!) And we were talking about what year he was born. (Which is 1929 by the way.) And of course all my students start talking about the year they were born. (They love talking about themselves.) They were all born in the years 1997 and 1998. (The year I graduated from high school). So they ask me what year I was born. I tell them 1980. And that's when one of my students yells out, "That's when disco was still around!" Oh you have to love 2nd graders, who when they guess your age it's usually 13 or 103.

Also, if you are in the habit of reading my beloved's humorous blog. Somehow while I was trying to add a counter to the bottom of his, I made all the postings go away. I don't know what I did or how I did it, but we hope we can get his up and running soon. So stay tuned...

Yes, disco was still around. In fact, I think your mom was wearing a butterfly collar blouse, hoop earrings, a see-through scarf, and roller skates when she gave birth to you. Weren't you Terri? (Does your mom read this blog?)
That is a great student story. But my favorite is the one where one of your fellow teachers asked one of your students if he was having a good day and he got real serious and said "Nope, I'm having a good year." Love those kiddos.
How have I not seen this blog yet? I was looking at Spruce's screwed up blog tonight and noticed the link. Glad you're here. Now, maybe Nikki will get back on the horse.
Disco might not have been around when you were born, but was definitely still hangin on when your hubby was born (1977 - right?!). We're old.
I'll be back soon!
