ACU Today

The latest edition of ACU Today (Fall 2005) is about "Where We Fell in Love". It has lots of sweet stories about where on campus people met. It got me thinking about the day that I remember meeting Spruce. I very well could have met him before this but this is my first vivid memory.

I was in 7th grade so he would have been in 9th. I was at church with Lauren and they were having LTC practice. I wasn't involved in LTC so I was just sitting there observing (feeling quite out of place). This was a time in Spruce's life when he was very addicted to Dr. Pepper. He of course had one with him at the practice and had left it in the room when he walked out. His buddies thought it would be funny to hide it from him. So he came back in the room to find his Dr. Pepper had been taken. He fully plays along like he is mad of course. He starts questioning everyone in the room as to the whereabouts of the Dr. Pepper. He finally gets to me and in my face "yells", "I don't know who you are, but where is my Dr. Pepper?" At this point I don't really remember what I said or what happened. I am sure he found it and all was well. But I do remember thinking, this boy is weird. Who knew 12 years later we would be married! (Spruce of course has no memory of this ever happening!)

If anyone else is reading out there :), do you have any stories about how you and your significant other met?

so, i saw this earlier and couldn't help but laugh because this is such an acu thing, to share how you met your significant other, i mean. i sure didn't meet that person at acu but then that might have required me to leave the confines and security of 929 bruce way. but i know my new story will be one for the ages. i met my new "love" while attending a baseball game. (surprise, surprise) while walking to my seat during warm-ups, this gentleman was so taken with my beauty in my "pippi rules" t-shirt and yes, yankee ball cap. (the horrors, i know. it was before the eerie damon/babe ruth scandal.) he decided to walk on over and introduce himself after he smacked me upside the head with a wild pitch. long story short, a mild concussion can lead to a beautiful relationship. (it worked for drew and jimmy, didn't it?) and while i can't reveal his identity for papparazzi purposes, i am fully intending to move to oakland to become a yoga master and live in the slums when this story actually takes place. a girl can dream can't she? wasn't it disney that manufactured the entire theory that "dreams really do come true?" if so, i'm still waiting! seriously though, you guys and your blogs crack me up! it's like war of the words or battle of the blogs.

Hey I like the story even if it isn't true!
I really never thought I would have a blog, but to be honest, it's kind of fun!

Great story Sarah. I tdoesn't matter that it is fictional. In fact, I am fairly certain Jacquie made up the story she told about me. Here's how I know it is fake. At that point in my life I did not drink Dr. Pepper out of bottles or cans or even glasses or cups. I took it directly in the vein via an IV which I wheeled around on one of those stands you see at the hospital. Therefore, the story could never have happened. But I am glad we met.

Hey Jacquie! You'll be on my bloggers' list. :) And I guess I don't need to tell you the story about how I met my hubby since it's in the magazine, hehe...

I'll let you know. =)

All I could think about when I read your post was: I knew her in 7th grade!! And then I thought: I wonder when the first time she mentioned Spruce to me was?
